Mark Manila on Charlie: "Charlie was one of the songs that took a long time before I could really grasp what I wanted to express. He started off as a grumpy old man who didn't want to leave his house and became a man trying to escape living up to his past and finally accepting his fate. The music on this track is really unique, It's kind of soft but true to it's rock and roll roots. I bring a 20's feel to the overdub guitar work, while Robbie plays a wonderful bass lick underneath.
