I agree with what you're saying, especially with having to compare apples to apples. But, back to the music..
What a great, fun, and unique sound. I was worried...at first. I will admit that I've heard my fair share of jam bands and others try to actually cover old Nintendo soundtracks (Herbal Jazz Cigarettes anyone?) and that can be ONLY CHEESY. What you do is more incorporate the old sounds into the mix of rock instruments and pop arrangement and make it fun to listen to. I could only imagine what one of your shows might be like. I will have to come out and scope it out one of these days
holy wow I haven't looked at this comment wall since entering this contest! Kind of got a bit off topic XD It's no biggie though! I do have to say I think the system is pretty well set up to prevent much cheating for any specific band, especially when there's 200 in a contest, since you don't get to pick which songs you vote for! I can definitely see what Keith is saying about separating genres though. It's already tough enough to "judge" and "compete" when you're comparing apples to apples
Ding! Ding! Ding! Boys! Had to step in and say, I agree with Silent Sirens last comment, but also wanted to say to you Keith that I agree with you in seperating the genres...it makes total sense. I am a white female, love all types of music, and would never not vote for someone because they were African American. (Mean that from the bottom of my heart) If you have a great sound....YOU JUST HAVE IT! There is certainly ALOT of caucasion crap on this sight that I most certainly did not vote for just because they were white. If I didn't like it, they got three thumbs down, no ifs ands or buts about it. I wish you all the best of luck!
I actually take back a little bit of what i said. After looking more closely at the top rated ones, some of the best ones are there, and some that shouldn't be are... Some that should be higher aren't... But it really is opinion, maybe people have bad taste. I added my own band a few days ago (late in the comp), didn't tell anyone that day, nor did I even vote myself, and we were in the top 20 the next day. Then I announced to like 10 people to sign up and vote, they did, and our score went way down. Some of the people that i sent here are actually fans of other bands too, and supporting them as well. Oh and you only get badges if you link people right? I don't give a turd about badges, so all I did was tell people to go ourstage.com, make a free account, and vote. I imagine that most bands with fans, and active websites and mailing lists would not care about badges either, just votes. I would retract and agree that there should be a divide in the genre. But I really don't think that every group in the top 20 are racists AND cheaters... That's kind of ridiculous. Do you honestly think that? What position is your music at right now?
