Lyrics

Cities are abandoned now, Dead shrines in the crumbling ground. Then out to the country spread, But the death of the world could not be fled. This is a cold and lifeless world that we race toward. We’ll hide from the winter, We’ll curse at the sun. But then when the lights go out we will finally see how bad it’s become. We’re all waiting for the rain, But it won’t come. We had our chances in days gone by, But now they’re gone. Some say our world will end in fire, Others claim it ends in ice. From what I have tasted of desire, I’ll hold with those who favor fire. Midnight but a memory. Much of the world now is just too cold. The last leaves fall and our fates unfold. Then to the east as the sea swept in, The fires burned to let the plague being. This is a cold and lifeless existence, That we race toward. Life extinguished in the cradle of rebirth. Some say our world will end in fire, Others claim it ends in ice. From what I have tasted of desire, I’ll hold with those who favor fire. But if I had to perish twice, I think I know enough of hate, To say destruction by ice is great, And certainly it would suffice. Midnight but a memory.
