The inspiration of this song comes from the combination of Jon Webber reflecting on one of his favorite places to visit as a child-- the Northern California coastline-- and a conversation between the co-writers (Webber/Shervelle) about a young woman Webber noticed at a benefit concert. When asked about the song, Webber says, "It's dedicated to my future wife... whoever she may be."
