DaVoyce’s love for music came at an early age by age two she was trying to sing songs she heard on the radio. Surprising her mother by singing Anita Baker’s “Fairytale” at age four the saying a star is born definitely applied here. By age seven she entered a local talent show hosted by Guy Black in Indianapolis, Indiana and won her first $500 singing Christina Aguilera’s “I Turn to you”. Her mom then decided to get her some formal training and under the direction of lyric soprano Carmen Ridley at Indiana University School of Music she began taking voice lessons. By age ten she began compulsively writing her own songs which gave birth to a different kind singer. Seeing her deep desire to sing and be heard and taking her to the recording studio was a must, and she did her first recording with Keith Kinlow “88 Keys” former producer/rapper of AG2AKe (Scarface Records). A trip to Atlanta, GA in 2003 to meet with the Supa Friends producers Braxton and Ike Boogie was arranged by her cousin ToiNicole of ToiNicole Productions. These producers have worked with artists such as Lil’ Bow Wow, Jagged Edge, Isis and Lloyd and at that time they heard a phenomenal 10 year old that had promise. Unfortuantely a deal was offered at that time but details in the contract could not be ironed out and she passed on the offer of a record deal with SoSo Def. Never giving up on music she decided to gain more exposure and experience by doing other projects in the music arena. At 13 she became a registered songwriter with BMI in hopes that she could someday have her songs purchased by other artists. When asked where she is from she always affectionately replies "everywhere I was born on a plane." Having lived in different cities within the Midwest and Mid-South it has allowed her to know her market. With the love of family and friends she is inspired to write songs about love, life, happiness, growth and personal development, This fuels the girl, woman, sister, daughter and friend of those who are visionaries who see a bigger picture. While working with producers in Memphis she got her stage name "DaVoyce' as they all agreed that she definetly has "the voice". She has attended multiple schools for the performing arts giving her invaluable ground in theory and sight reading doing her own backgound vocals is something she is known for own her tracks. She is a recent graduate of High School for the Recording Arts in St. Paul, MN and was able to participate in many venues as a student there. Her collobarations with Lil C the real female rapper of the new millenium as well as doing reference tracks for current industry artists will leave naysayers buying cds when they didn't know who is the force behind the sound. Her performance in a video made for the victims of the Haiti disaster got over 400,000 hits on YouTube called "Together a Song for Haiti." She is well versed in different genres of music and has perfomed at the Dakota Jazz Club, The Om Club and made several appearances with women in the jazz circuit in the Twin Cities. She has created a buzz in the home of Prince, The Tyme, and Mint Condition with her commanding persona and talents. She has performed at the infamous First Avenue, The Sound Bar, Sunny's and The Favor Cafe booking her own shows on a weekly basis. She recently went to Los Angeles and amazed onlookers with her talents at the Mint and the Royal where she got rave reviews. She is currently working on a seven song EP with multiple producers to give a different vibe to what her music is really about. She is currently managed by her mother DeVayla Dotson and cousin Toi Nicole Burke-Jackson who were once artists themselves. DaVoyce is a unique artist with superior songwriting and performance abilities and the level of her talent is unsurpassed if you gage it against artists that are in the forefront. She currently is working with Kevin Shine(former A&R Jive Records) and will be a part of an extremely talented goup of songwriters to perfect her craft. Look to see her songs and music on the internet, live stage and other venues in 2011. Davoyce is here to stay!!!!!!!!!!!!
