Lyrics
Broke down outside of Tulsa, along the highway I was going to see an old friend of mine, But I guess it might have to wait Highway 44 take me home, I can crash there for awhile I caught a ride into Chickasha, I’ll have to walk the last few miles Sure is good, To see my feet out on that red dirt road It feels so good, cause I know i’ll be able to lighten my load And get back on my feet again, This is Home. I remember growing up in that town, couldn’t wait to get away I had all the dreams that a young man dreams, and I’d do it my way So I left home and I didn’t look back, somehow time passed me by When I think about all the years gone by, I have to sit and wonder why cause it Sure is good, To see my feet out on that red dirt road It feels so good, cause I know i’ll be able to lighten my load And get back on my feet again, This is Home. One thing that I’ve learned in my life, you can’t change who you are You might make a million dollars, and be some big time star But the places that we came from, make us who we are So if you’re feeling a little lost in this world, go back to the start Sure is good, To see my feet out on that red dirt road It feels so good, cause I know i’ll be able to lighten my load And get back on my feet again, This is Home
