Description
This is a song about an old circular saw blade that used to sit on a wall in our rehearsal space. I would look at and wonder what tales it would tell and what the guy who used it was like. At the same time, the worst economy in history was (is) upon us so I wrote a song about the type of guy who might have owned this blade - the type of guy that just loves to build things, but nobody will give him a job.....
Lyrics
I am just a carpenter I build dreams with my two hands I keep time with my hammer working wood the best I can I swing a 20 ounce hammer drive a 16 common nail each morning when I wake up it hits me without fail So I sing out to the treetop a song that I can't hide Like the melody ringing from the sound of my Krobide nothing calms the spirit like sawdust through the pine and the melody ringing from the sound of my Krobide I earned every dollar everything I've ever owned was always bought and paid for with honest work and aching bones I got 100 year old farmhouse and a worn out Chevy truck Like every honest tradesman I've since run outta luck I never got much help from my local union hall just a voice on a recording saying check back in the fall so I picked up my guitar and I took to writing songs bout the hardtimes of a common man and the world that's done him wrong Chorus I swing a 20 ounce hammer Drive a 16 common nail each morning when I wake up it hits me without fail
