In the tradition of unrequited love, there is a darker, more sinister dynamic of romance where those involved become victims of their own desires. In SNAP, the narrator admits that his feelings of being controlled by his own desires, while in a mutually destructive relationship, have driven him to the brink of self-destruction. He then admits in the end, that even though he has finally gained some modicum of control, all his partner has to do is "snap", and he will come running back for more ...
