On the Run

Album: DayLates Demo

Duration

5:33

Description

This song was inspired by a person who had been industrious in an illegal manner and got caught. He had been very generous to his loved ones; but now that he was back out on the street, they had disowned him and he was essentially homeless. He wanted very badly to earn an honest living going back to his career prior to drug manufacturing and trafficking, but its very hard to get hired in a bad economy when you've spent the prior seven years in prison.

Lyrics

Gaps in my employment, while locked up in jail. My reference is a cell mate, and he ain’t making bail. Cooking meth up in a houseboat, took planning and some skill. But my resume can’t list it, cuz it won’t fit the bill. Chorus: So I’ll be on the run, until the end of time. Yeah I’ll keep moving on, until the day I die. Before the law caught up to me, I paid all my parent’s bills. I bought my brother a new car, my friends mention the parties still. But I’m going back to long haul, when my license is renewed. But my main rig is all stalled, what am I to do? (Chorus) Man says I’ve got a job in the oil field, if I could just get there. I’ve got a car but no petrol, man it just ain’t fair. So I’m stuck up in this desert, with no money anywhere. Buddy I could use a dollar, if you’ve got one to spare. (Chorus)
