Description
This song is a first-hand account of my personal experience with the Al Capp character, Sadie Hawkins... however, it is totally fictitious of course.
Lyrics
Sadie Hawkins Say do you remember Sadie Hawkins I can say I knew her very well The people all ignored her especially the boys At every dance she came and left alone Sadie never cared a lot for fashion Instead she chose to stick with what she knew The guys were sporting argyle socks and fancy shoes of suede Sadie wore a dress her mother made She spent the evening on the floor and then went home alone No one said goodnight or even noticed that she'd gone It hurt but I could see that there was nothing I could do And the reason's something only Sadie knew I remember one night I saw Sadie Dancing in the darkness all alone I pitied her but soon the pity turned to something else And I approached and offered her my hand I crossed the floor, held out my arm and asked to walk her home Well she looked at me in disbelief and told me to get lost But now I'm old, I understand I never had a chance She didn't want a man, she just liked to dance
