This is a bittersweet love song about a love that has to wait before it can be realized. It's about a real love that someone has waited a lifetime to find and never wants to lose...about a future she hopes to share with the man of her dreams...once he realizes he loves her as much as she loves him. There is some irony in it too, when the singer sings about "keeping my song for you to myself," which implies there is another song somewhere and there is....it's called "If I Could Tell You"
