Description

This song is inspired by a poem by David Gere of the same name. In 2010 David approached Michael to take his poem and turn it into a song. Over the course of 2 hours, and a couple screwdrivers later, Michael reworked the poem, and crafted a vocal melody that set the mood for this tale of love. Not being able to play an instrument besides his voice, Michael turned to Ray Morant from MonsterLab Studios in New Britain CT to flesh out the instrumentals.

Lyrics

Night Shadows © 1/10/10 by David Gere and Michael J. Citak There was a certain flicker the way the light danced on her skin at first glance, I thought it was the blue neon lights, in the city of sin. But by the dawning day, when the fog had lifted I thought it was her, in those eyes and in that smile. It’s the memory of, us laughing, never will tarnish, cause she was so free. (Chorus) We were piercing, we were piercing night shadows. We were piercing, we were piercing night shadows, when we raced down the street, running from everything. When we’re gone, she (he) drifts away sometimes, The deepest night now, rolling like a midnight tide, Early morning, she’s (he’s) all alone, cast aside, Floating, barely see her (him) from the other side. (Chorus) Passing clouds, a morning dew Rays of shine, I’m here with you Touching toes on water slightly, Soaking in if ever slightly, walking way like dancing shadows, There was a certain flicker, There was a certain flicker, Fleeting moments… Loving life, and living free, hand in hand the end will be, dancing lights up on the skin, laughing times are kept within… (Chorus)
