Darkness Before the Dawn In the darkness, just before the dawn a country boy opens his eyes he hears the cattle crying calling for their morning meal says "these chores I do despise" says " you know, I gotta get away from here, try some city lights on for size" so he packs his truck,drives it off away Lord look at the dust fly In the darkness, just before the dawn a young man wakes in his highrise sees the pidgeons looking in from the window sill says" hey whats doin' guys?" says" you know, we ought to fly away from here try some fresh air on for size" so he packs his bags, shuttles off away greener pastures in his eyes In the evening, the old man in his rocking chair thinking of the day that just went by smiles to himself when he thinks of things he said in his younger years says he knew then they were lies says" you know, I ain't never getting out of here because home is what lies deep inside. so I'll sit here, and I'll rock my life away here is where I'll live and die written by Alfred J.
