Description
This song is a cry out to individuals who've made bad choices in their lives - including ourselves :) It's never too late to turn back. I originally wrote it for my son, but I can just as easily hear the echoes of parents and others who loved me back when I was young and stupid. My favorite line is "Your bridge has not burned to the ground.
Lyrics
Wayward Ones Words and music by: Julie Livingston Performed by: Wise Ruby Wayward sons And wayward daughters Please come back Despite the cost Your mother weeps So does your father They hope and pray All is not lost Wayward children Did you leave bread crumbs? To find your way Should you return Are they still there? Have they been eaten? Do your feet wander? Does your heart yearn? Oh wayward ones You are forgiven Your bridge has not Burned to the ground Lift up your eyes The road divides Your Father calls Follow the sound You wanted more More was not offered Your restless soul Unsatisfied You longed to be Your only captain Answered to no one Parted in pride You traded peace For an adventure You traded gold For magic beans When will you see Your folly clearly Adventure wasn't All that it seemed Oh wayward ones You are forgiven Your bridge has not Burned to the ground Lift up your eyes The road divides Your Father calls Follow the sound Do your feet wander? Does your heart yearn? Oh wayward ones.... Oh wayward ones You are forgiven Your bridge has not Burned to the ground Lift up your eyes The road divides Your Father calls Follow the sound Oh wayward ones You are forgiven Your bridge has not Burned to the ground Lift up your eyes The road divides Your Father calls Follow the sound Do your feet wander? Does your heart yearn? Oh wayward ones.... Do your feet wander? Does your heart yearn? Oh wayward ones....
