Mark of Cain is an homage to The Rentals rocker that points out our culture's misunderstanding of the expression "mark of Cain." The song points out that although the biblical character Cain did a dastardly deed in murdering his brother Abel, his punishment is greater for those who choose to judge him than for Cain alone.
