Can I Live

Description

A simple song about being you, NON-Conformity! How every person, no matter how "un-spectacular", should be able to be themselves without scrutiny. Using a song as a metaphor for life, it explains how a person cannot be happy unless they sing (live) the way they want. With its simple lyrics and melody, the phrase "Don’t rain on my parade" was an innocent way for the shunned individuals to say "back off", Courtesy of Mrs. Barbara Streisand

Lyrics

Can I Live (Verse 1) What can I do for you, how can I say to you, how much you mean to me, for me to just be free, I just want to go and sing, accomplish and do all the things, that life has in store for me, don’t bring me down, don’t bring me down, please don’t rain on my parade, the future shines with me, please don’t ruin a good thing, don’t say that I cant be free (Chorus X4) So if I cant live for who I am, life is like a song, and if I cant sing the way I want then I really don’t belong (Verse 2) Tell me whats the cause of this, having trouble to accept all the people who they are, this prejudice has gone to far, seem to give up all the tools, to fit in someone elses shoes, it’s a shame that we have to choose, to be them or be you please don’t make my sun turn grey the future shines with me, please don’t ruin a good thing, don’t say that I cant be free (Chorus X4) So if I cant live for who I am, life is like a song, and if I cant sing the way I want then I really don’t belong, (Bridge) The moral of the story is, that no matter who it is, that no matter who it is, doesn’t matter what you are, just be you don’t stray too far, from who your meant to be, don’t mind all the things they say, you can live for who you are, just pick a day to be yourself… (Chorus X4) So if I cant live for who I am, life is like a song, and if I cant sing the way I want then I really don’t belong
