Lyrics

It started down south in the woods and the hollers that them good ole boys call home. Those southern boys sure can spice up a party with some copper and a bushel of corn. Making moonshine whiskey, man, kept em mighty busy but the Feds said that it was a crime. They kept ahead of ‘em lord with a big block Ford that did a quarter in twelve-point-nine. Yeah a redneck boy with a super-charged toy wants to show the world what he’s got. They started racing for kicks way back in the sticks and the action started getting’ hot. Every Saturday night, man, it was a sight as folks made their way to the woods. To see ‘em hitting the gas and fighting to pass as they showed ‘em what was under the hood. NASCAR…Running that inside line… NASCAR…Drafting most all the time… You go five hundred miles at one hundred ninety and don’t want it all to end. So next week we’ll put down the hammer and do it all over again. A guy named Petty figured he was ready in nineteen sixty four. The tires were a screaming, Lord you shoulda seen him with that pedal pressed to the floor. He was on a mission and started a tradition brother, he was doing his thing. With two hundred wins, the legend begins he earned the title of “The King”. Eighty was the year for really shifting gears when Earnhardt came to town. You could see it in his eyes, he was made of ice when the time came to shut ‘em down. Intimidation was the name and winning was the game when number three was on the attack. He laid it all on the line for a win every time Lord knows he never did look back. NASCAR…Shooting for the perfect groove… NASCAR…Passing with a slingshot move… You go five hundred miles at one hundred ninety and don’t want it all to end. So next week we’ll put down the hammer and do it all over again. Instrumental We’ve come a long way since them good ole’ days when we was one step ahead of the law. From the straights of Daytona to the turns of Talladega it’s the number one sport of ‘em all. Racing has tradition and the cutest southern women and good ole’ boys at the track. When you feel the thunder, you don’t have to wonder what keeps the fans a comin’ back. NASCAR…Fighting for the finish line… NASCAR…Gunning for a record time… You go five hundred miles at one hundred ninety and don’t want it all to end. So next week we’ll put down the hammer and do it all over again. So next week we’ll put down the hammer and do it all over again.
