Lyrics
We go out to the fields and pick our daily share. The work, oh it feels, like dragging a two ton brick. We gotta chase them dollars cause we're poor, the dirt is our floor. I can't take it no more. My momma, she bakes, that down-home cornbread. She hums a tune and makes sure that I get fed. Somebody tell me, what's the point of this? I put in the hours while the big boss gets rich. Virtue don't put dinner on my table and my sweat won't fill this cup. I am strong because I'm able. Head held high. My family, the keep me pushing, pushing for another day. My friends, oh they listen, to the songs I have to sing.
