Description
I wrote this song November 11 when I read about the Next Record with Keith Urban contest. It felt fitting not only for the contest, but for where I am personally at in my life. Acoustic guitar, drums, synth and vocals performed by me, with David Redfearn on the bass. Produced at R. Paul's Music Studio in Pella, Iowa.
Lyrics
I can see clearly now the rain is gone, I can see everything that's been in my way I'm shedding the chains that held me down, and now I can stand, it's like I've found I'm so much bigger than I thought I'd be. I'm gonna break free from what I used to be. I just found out my limit's the sky. You're gonna realize, when you look into my eyes, maybe then you'll see. I'm gonna break free from what I used to be. There's something about this life that just doesn't feel alright. It's stuck on repeat with the same boring scene. Maybe a quiet life can work for some other guy but that's not me. I'm after a different life that's lined with the city lights. I'm gonna break free from what I used to be. I just found out my limit's the sky. You're gonna realize, when you look into my eyes, maybe then you'll see I'm gonna break free from what I used to be. I'm gonna break free from what I used to be. I just found out my limit's the sky. You're gonna realize, when you look into my eyes, maybe then you'll see I'm gonna break free from what I used to be.
