El Nino del Tambor

An original arrangement, fusing the “new and old.” The melody originates from a Czech carol “Carol of the Drum,” but more recently recognized as "Little Drummer Boy." Our adaptation includes intermittent excerpts from J.S. Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring,” moving from an airy introduction, to a "Mariachi-like" horn-trumpet fugue; and ending with a jazzy, lounge vibe. Mexican Catholic traditions, today, uses this tune in Mass celebrations as a processional tune.
