Magentic? (or: forget what the name means, try to pronounce it properly first) Many have tried, mostly in vain, to define the musical genre of Magentic. Perhaps this is due to the great variety of interpretations inherent when dealing with such diverse musical styles, making it difficult to define them as belonging to any one distinct discipline or another. Sometimes it seems that the musical foundations behind Magentic illude even the band members themselves. Yet, as far as they are concerned this is probably what makes it so enjoyable. Ironically enough, Magentic was formed as a pretty standard cover band around the year 2003. The band members quickly built up a tribute to female rock singers and started touring with it all over Israel. The group gained their momentum and by 2006 they broadened their horizons into Progressive Rock tributes and covers at major venues in Israel such as Tzavta, Barby, Heineken Habima, Camelot, Tmuna and even became the house band of the "Rockolnoa" shows hosted at the Haifa Cinematheque for a few months. Magentic was also invited to perform on Channel 10's morning show and was interviewed in an hour long program dedicated to their music on the radio show "The Element" aired on "Kol-Rega" radio. Simultaneously, Magentic began carefully crafting a repertoire of new original material in their own unique style, featuring an abundance of diverse influences. By the end of 2006, the creative process deepened and led Magentic to withdraw from the stage in order to concentrate on recording their debut album: "In the Dream", a double disc concept album (in English) that debuted at the end of August 2010. The album embodies a variety of genres, refreshing arrangements and delivers a surprising story line, taking the listener on a journey from symphonic to rock, from meticulous to mad and from dream to reality. "In the Dream", is the product of 4 years of hard work that was done solely by the band members of Magentic; who wrote, composed, arranged, recorded, mixed and graphically designed the album. They did this without the assistance of a third party, record company or label but with a lot of help from colleagues and friends in the music industry. Nowadays, Magentic are back on stage, with the goal to promote their new debut album, which they ensure to present in a manner which is not quite 'standard'.
