ABEL-EL's Bio The talent of ABEL-EL was recognized at the age of seven months by his mother and father seeing him make beats on his little metal chair. After seeing the “God Father of Soul” James Brown at age three, he was hooked on music. By age four he knew that the bass guitar was the instrument of his first choice to play. At 8 yrs old he started playing drums. In third grade ABEL-EL jumped from beginners to advance band in one day playing the tuba. His excellent ability in music earned him straight A’s throughout his school years, playing Tuba, Bass Guitar, Trombone, Timpani drums, and singing in middle and high school choirs. At age thirteen he started playing bass, worked as a sound man and lighting technician in night clubs with a funk cover band called, “Black Magic”. His mother Mary had to give her consent by signature for him to enter the clubs. In his high school years he played bass guitar with a professional gospel choir named “One Accord”, based in Richmond, Virginia. During the same time in high school he had his own original funk band called, “Close Encounters”. Two months after his senior year at Highland Springs High school he joined a blues band called, “The Bill Blue Band”. They traveled up and down the east coast full time year around. After playing with Bill Blue he joined a show band called The Kevin Reynolds Band and since then he has worked as a sound technician at the Carpenter Center for performing arts, a radio disc jockey at FM. 98, and a bass player for a gospel quintet called The Golden Jubilees, Fourth Baptist Church for 14 yrs., also at St. John’s Baptice for 5 yrs. While playing for the the church he also played with other Richmond based bands like; reggae band called, Mind Body And Spirit and a cover band called, One Love Band And Show, Lady E. jazz band and “Go Go” band “New Dimension”. ABEL-EL is one who loves his music to speak to all people. With that in mind listen and enjoy his art that include family and friends. With the ability he is able!
