After Midnight were formed in 1985 in Newcastle upon Tyne, taking their name from the JJ Cale song. In the past 25 years they have become one of the best-loved bands on Tyneside and have also become something of a rock institution. There have been many highlights over the years, including support slots with Doctor Feelgood and Steve Marriott. For the past 10 years, the band have concentrated on their Eric Clapton tribute concerts, performed at theatres all over the UK & Europe under the name CLASSIC CLAPTON. Highlights have included The Royal Festival Hall, London and Glastonbury Festival, England. In the past few years they have performed numerous concerts in Europe including Spain, Estonia and Holland. In July 2009 they appeared at St Andrews Auditorium in Mumbai. This was a great concert - it sold out and apparently many people were turned away. There were quite a few Bollywood stars & celebrities in the audience. A 10,000 mile round-trip for 1 concert, but it was worth it. In May 2008 after Midnight played at The Acoustic Festival of Britain. It was a great honour for them to perform straight after Fairport Convention and just before Jethro Tull. In the past 25 years After Midnight have become something of a rock institution. They have released three albums. Firstly “THE MUSIC OF ERIC CLAPTON” contains brilliant cover-versions of 17 Clapton Classics. Their second album is a double CD ''CLASSIC CLAPTON Unplugged'' recorded at Belfast Waterfront Hall. In 2005 they released their third album “CLASSIC CREAM” – featuring 20 covers of songs by the sixties supergroup. TYNE TEES TELEVISION made a programme about After Midnight, called 'COVER THEIR TRACKS'. They filmed the band's concert at Newcastle Opera House, in front of 600 ecstatic fans. It was shown in August 2000 leading to national recognition. After Midnight comprises 4 excellent musicians:- Mike Hall (lead vocals/guitar), Vince Mason (drums) and John Forster (bass guitar/backing vocals). On keyboards/backing vocals is Paul Warren. After Midnight continue to perform their CLASSIC CLAPTON concerts around the UK & Europe.
