I had different dreams....to be a dancer. Until I heard Whitney Houston sing.....the the dream changed. I song my first song as a little girl around 4 or 5 years old at Christ Temple Church of God In Christ. I still remember as if it were yesterday, I song "Jesus I'll Never Forget", which to be honest was the only church song I could remember all the words to at that moment. At that time i still hadn't made my mind up to be a singer although my mother sung on a regular basis at visiting churches. But once my father went into ministry my whole desires for life changed. I began to sing this one song entitled "I Love The Lord" (which was the revised Whitney Houston version sung on the movie "The Preacher's Wife"). I song that one song for a very very very long time. I won my first talent competition in 3rd grade at Galena Elementary, of course i had a bunch of haters after that just like I do today. Over the years, my singing went from being just a simple talent I did for fun into a gift that I wanted to do more with. More than just sing in church every Sunday. I wanted to share my gift. I had started writing songs at age 6 and now i souldn't tell you how many songs are lying around or in my song book to date. Singing is my soul passion and I love this gift God gave me with a passion. My classmates will tel you i will spend a whole class period humming. I honest to God don't do it just to show off, it just has become a habit. Singing helps me when I'm mad, sad, happy, confused, worried, upset, or even jealous. It really does get me through.
