Arianna Solare was born in Los Angeles, California on February 23, 1976. Her father is from South Africa and as a young person he introduced her to the vibrant and emotional music of Africa, Brazil, Cuba, Cape Verde, and the Flamenco music of Spain. Her mother is originally from the midwest where in the 60‘s at 17 she had a coffee shop in Illinois with her first husband that the folk singers would stop at and play during their travels. She began playing piano at 6 and guitar at age 15. At 19 she moved to Seattle, WA., and spent eight grand years there as a performance artist, filmmaker, dancer, and musician. She co-founded the notorious Butoh-inspired performance art group P.A.N. as well as dancing with some of the well known modern companies of the time. Her first short film “Half a Stranger” premiered at the Seattle Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and her second film “Grace-dampunderbarrensoil”, premiered at the Seattle Art Museum. It was a busy and prolific time. After Seattle, and needing a break from the constants of performance and city life, she moved to Taos, NM. She built an earthen house off the grid and began to get into Indian Devotional music, learning to play the Harmonium and experimenting with a new vocal style. She traveled to India three times in two years to immerse myself in the intensely prolific musical culture that exists there. After these travels to India and her father having had heart surgery, her life took her back to her roots: Los Angeles and the Hollyweird culture. While playing Kirtan around the city, Arianna was approached by Mitchell Markus (formerly Triloka Records) to record an album and began writing songs on the guitar again. She recorded the EP “Book Of Us” with Simeon Spiegle at Black Forest Studios in Sherman Oaks. Since then she has recorded with production geniuses Gio Loria [Black Eyed Peas, Everlast, Jack Johnson] and Chris Wonzer [Linda Perry, Christina Aguilera, Alanis Morrisette] among others.Currently Arianna is living primarily [when not in Taos], in Tucson, AZ and preparing to record a full length album titled “Songs Of Tears and Liberty”, a collection of relevant and rocking songs.
