I find music to be a basic need in my life. It is a corridor through which I flee sometimes, sometimes I fly, often I float where my fingers and voice lead. I find music to be a basic need in my life. It is a corridor through which I flee sometimes, sometimes I fly, often I float where my fingers and voice lead. Field of Green is about people in life that appear, make an impact over a few meetings and then go. Probably never to be heard from again, but you search for them in your heart and with your eyes, always. 110 was recently written for a song writing group I joined to make myself work at it. In the winter I was thinking about the hot days here in NYC a few years ago, when walking down the sidewalk meant avoiding or lavishing in the spray from open hydrants. There was really no middle ground. The hydrants are locked now. Though some intrepid individuals still manage to open them. Sweetheart, comes from a year when I lived in San Antonio Texas. I knew a lot of guys like the clown, though not any real rodeo clowns. They were hard working, some itenerant, some had not left the area in all their lives. All of them were the salt of the earth and many had love lives remeniscent of the Sweetheart and the Clown. Come Where the Aspens Quiver is a cover and is very different. It is a 19th century ballad by Alexander Lee, that I found in a collection by Jeffrey Archer. From the first time I played it before an audience, I knew it would be a part of my repetoir forever. There is something unpretencious about Lee's music that speaks in ways that newer music does not.
