Attica Rage was formed in Glasgow, Scotland in 2003 by Ayrshire brothers Richie Rage (drums) and Jonny Parr (vocals, guitar) with Big C (bass, vocals) and Stephen Bell (guitar). They brew a potent blend of hard rock riffs, powerful melodic anthems and infectious metal grooves with an occasional dose of sombre moments and brooding, epic soundtracks. Their influences combine the heavyweight crunch of Black Label Society, Metallica and Pantera with the punk attitude and raw biker-rock of Motorhead and The Almighty, occasionally flirting with the darker moods of Alice in Chains and Type O Negative. A strong reputation has been established through their powerful live performances at shows across the UK and Europe. They have supported Saxon, Diamond Head, Blitzkrieg, Armored Saint (with John Bush of Anthrax), Betzefer, Mark E Smith & The Fall and Voodoo Six as well as hundreds of headline shows across the UK. In summer 2008 they shared the bill with In Flames, Apocalyptica, Arch Enemy, Opeth, Ministry, Korpiklaani, Carcass and many more at Metalcamp in Slovenia - the only unsigned UK band to play the week-long festival. In December 2008, their appearance at Hard Rock Hell II - The Dragon's Ball in North Wales was a highlight of the weekend and saw them share the bill with Thin Lizzy, Black Label Society, Hawkwind, Clutch, The Wildhearts and many more. Attica Rage have been confirmed for Hammerfest festival in 2009 alongside Opeth, Bullet For My Valentine, Saxon, Hammerfall and Cathedral with more festivals being confirmed. To date they have released the self-produced EP ‘In Concert with the Mirror’ and recently released debut album ‘Ruin Nation’ through their own label Vanduara Records, produced by Big C, mastered by ex-Skunk Anansie guitarist Ace and featuring cover art by legendary Motorhead logo & sleeve artist Joe Petagno. Both recordings receive regular airplay at home and abroad including Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson BBC6 Music rock show, Thekla & Tina's New World Order show on Total Rock radio, Tom Russell’s Friday Night Rock Show on 96.3 Rock Radio and DJ Darkside on New York’s Breakthru Radio. ‘Ruin Nation’ was one of Music News Scotland’s Top 4 Albums, ‘In Concert with the Mirror’ was voted as one of the Top 10 Independant Albums by MetalNet Radio in Canada and thousands of albums and downloads have found home in CD players, iPods and music collections around the globe - throughout the UK to Europe, USA and even as far as Japan, Australia and Puerto Rico. The band will continue to promote ‘Ruin Nation’ into 2009 but have already started writing new material with plans to to record and release the follow-up album later in the year, along with more UK gigs, festivals and a European tour. Staying true to their musical heritage, delivering powerful songs and performances with an unbridled and enthusiastic punk DIY attitude and belief - while standing aside from the latest passing trends & fashions – have found these four Scottish rockers an enthusiastic and growing fan base. With the release of ‘Ruin Nation’ and their appearance at Hard Rock Hell topping a very successful year, the band is at the start of an exciting new chapter but whatever happens next… it’s still all about the riffs, the songs, the attitude and above all, pure unadulterated hard n’ heavy rock n roll!
