You would think it was almost impossible to stay focused in a house full of siblings in the middle of what most proclaimed to be “the ghetto”, but Baby Dre found that to be one of the main reasons to keep his focus. Growing up on the east side of Columbus, Ohio wasn’t easy, surrounded by peer pressuring gang bangers and dope boys who constantly tried to taint his career path, but with music being his only passion, he saw himself past all of the violence and endeverores. Born as Aundrey Lamar Beard on May 14th, 1988, Baby Dre’s love for music developed at an early age. Always known as an excellent writer Baby Dre had a poem published worldwide, (which was the grand prize in a writing competition in grade school). Upon entering Junior High School, Baby Dre began his venture in the band. Starting out playing the trumpet then gradually made his way over to percussion. Baby Dre didn’t recognize his ability in songwriting until he watched a group of friends perform in the school talent show, and that very next year he took home the third place prize of $75, performing his recreation of Ludacris (who is his number one favorite music artist), and Jermaine Dupri’s “Welcome to Atlanta” called “Welcome to Columbus”. Soon after Baby Dre had mastered his song writing and producing skills working with the S.T.A.R.S. (Striving to Achieve Real Success) Program, and began to engineer his own recording sessions. “My original reason for becoming a producer was not only because I had NO MONEY and NO BEATS, but because I had notebooks full of songs, and once I had beats for my songs I had no one to record them. So I thought if I wanted things to be accomplished then I would have to do them myself, things don’t just happen on their own.” Baby Dre expressed. If it weren’t for his loving mother, Elaine Beard, recognizing his talent and signing him up for Chris Powell’s S.T.A.R.S. Program (who let him use the studio equipment, and perform in different venues with them at this early stage of his career), he probably wouldn’t be as developed as he is now.Throughout Baby Dre's high school years, with the exception of the prejudgments of teachers thinking of him as a hoodlum and even once being accused of plagiarism, Baby Dre persevered in his school and personal life, maintaining a 3.5 GPA and above. Never knowing what having honor roll felt like until then, Baby Dre made it his goal to keep it that way. Along with school Baby Dre was working a job at a grocery store and attending the Radio/Television program at Fort Hayes Career Center, a Central Ohio school of the performing. He later produced and directed his very own music video to one of his original songs entitled “Go Shawty”. The video soon appeared on local channels in Columbus, Ohio, giving him a good deal of recognition in his hometown. Shortly after that Baby Dre graduated East High School not only in the National Honors Society ranked # 8 in his graduation class of 2006, as well as with a Certification in Radio/Television Production, but also, which was most important to him, with four first place titles in the hip hop category in the school talent shows. One for each year. After a year of working two jobs to save money to move to Atlanta, GA., Baby Dre became finacially stable enough to follow his dream. Upon arrival Baby Dre linked up and began to work with an independent record label, where he witnessed first hand exactly how the music industry is ran. Working with that company he didn’t get everything he was promised and lost a few valuables but gained more information and experience that can bring back thousands of those valuables. “Every bad situation is not always exactly what you title it. I think certain affairs go wrong at one point for you can take what you learned and apply it elsewhere.” Baby Dre explained. So after careful consideration, he packed his bags and went the only place he knew to go, home. Taking his favorite rapper Ludacris’ advice in the song “Tell it like it is” off of his 2007 album “Release Therapy”. Baby Dre started his own independent record label, and signed himself to himself! Baby Dre is currently working on his debut album entitled “End of The Beginning” which is scheduled to drop late 2008. “At the end of the day, well my day, the only way that I know that things are going to be done right and to the quality that I expect is if I do it myself. I don’t like to be the third party in anything that deals with me,” Baby Dre confessed, “and if I fail because of someone else’s mistakes, then I’m an all around failure, but if I fail because of my mistakes, then I’m still a winner because I put myself on the line and fought for myself" Baby Dre Concludes.
