In a small house nestled in a tiny suburb outside of Dallas, TX during the spring of 2001, Randy Cochran and brothers Michael & Joseph Cassini (who have since departed) decided to start a noise-pop band. Since that moment the group has endured six years of tireless playing, discovering, line-up changes, deaths, lack of funding, limited recording, equipment mal-functions, disappointments, nonpaying gigs, industry swindlers, critical blow-offs, personal crisis, and being vastly overlooked and misunderstood by the local music scene. However, despite coming against some of the toughest issues a band can deal with, endure they did. Not only that, but the group continues to maintain its goals, visions, and values with integrity and a remarkable DIY approach.Since its inception, Bangarang has maintained a unique sound, immediately separating them from their peers. In 2007, this sound will be brought to its first zenith as the band begins tracking their first two full length releases, or what can only be described as a "super-double-album" featuring almost 40 songs. Ambition abounds, but not pretension, as the band plans to release one of the albums online, via their website, completely free of charge. Not only that, but joining the band are a host of instrumentalists - from strings and brass, to a small choir, allowing the music to be taken far beyond the realm of standard guitar-driven rock music.The group has also aligned itself with a plethora of visual artists in order to create a totally encompassing mixed-media experience based around the concepts and themes present in the songs, as well as to create a dynamically interactive live show.The group is currently recording a new LP titled Puzzlebits for Personal Assembly with Mark Pirro (Polyphonic Spree/Tripping Daisy) and Dave Willingham (Lift to Experience/Centro-matic).
