This is a great record, congratulations!” – Lost Highway Recording Artist Mary Gauthier Ben Glover has been compelled to write songs since his mid-teens when he was awoken and unsettled by Tom Waits and Bob Dylan. It’s writers whose work contains lyrical richness and who take a poetic approach in exploring the human condition that attract Ben. In his own writing he creates characters so life like that you can almost trace the lines of their face with your finger. Whether it’s the soul-moving melody of “Too Late to Leave Her Alone,” or the worn portrait of a “Full Moon Child,” he crafted images that linger. His words find their way to the deepest place in your soul. Ben Glover is from the County Antrim village of Glenarm, N Ireland and he has been writing songs since he was a teenager. He graduated in law at Queens University Belfast before he decided to put his legal ambitions on hold to pursue a career in music. Ben spent most of the past year writing and performing in the United States. He returned home in early 2010 with his new album Through the Noise, Through the Night, produced by indie producer Neilson Hubbard (Kim Richey, Matthew Perryman Jones & Toad the Wet Sprocket’s former singer Glen Phillips). This second release was recorded at the Hubbard’s Mr. Lemons Studio’s in East Nashville. In 2008 Ben released his debut album The Week The Clocks Changed. That record was produced by J.D. Foster and featured guest appearances by the likes of Vince Gill, Buddy Miller and Jim Lauderdale. Ben also released two singles that enjoyed UK national airplay on BBC Radio 2 - as well as an invitation to play a live session on Janice Long’s Radio 2 show. Comparisons were drawn to the likes of Ryan Adams and Bruce Springsteen and the record received a 4 star review in the Irish Times, a four star review in Q Magazine while Maverick Magazine gave the record another 4 star review and quoted: “A great debut album from a major talent in the making”. In early 2009 Ben relocated to the USA where he began diving into the rich southern culture of Nashville. He frequented the old homesteads and headstones of his musical idols, including Johnny Cash and Hank Williams, journeyed to the legendary crossroads in the Mississippi Delta and wrote his name on the wall at Elvis Presley’s Graceland. Drawing on the inspiration of the creative music scene in Nashville, Ben began penning new tunes with some of Music Row’s finest songwriters, including Lost Highway Recording Artist, Mary Gauthier and in late 2009 he began to record this new album. It has been a breathtaking, globetrotting whirlwind for this poet from Glenarm who got to this stage of his journey by following some good advice. “ David Gray told me quite a few years ago to “follow your heart.” It’s been said by many people and it’s a cliché but it definitely is the strongest and most honest guide.” With so much experience, emotion and honest, raw talent it’s no surprise that fans have been savoring the sounds of “Through the Noise, Through The Night”.
