Betty’s early musical career began in church choir where she was quickly recognized and featured in performances. With family support, Betty began competing in local talent shows and built a name by winning many of the shows she performed. With an impromptu performance of her smooth, intricate flow Betty then turned heads at Inner City Prod. Betty was the first female artist to perform at The Spot, a club in the DC area. After working with Inner City Prod. community out reach programs, Betty moved to work with Texx at All Hiz Ent. (Interscope). Texx taught Betty the professionalism and skills necessary to bring her music to the next level. They parted ways due to creative differences. “I will never forget the professionalism and guidance that Texx brought to me.”
Betty’s next project was The DC Rap Divas. The group claimed local fame for the two years that Betty performed with them. “With the DC Rap Divas I started critiquing my style. They brought me a boldness and attitude that gave me new confidence in my flow.” During her tenure with the DC Rap Divas, Betty continued being featured on recordings, which added to the fire stoked by her performances. After the unexpected passing of her brother, Betty took a soulful look at her art. “I couldn’t rap about violence anymore. It was impacting my fans and being a positive influence in people’s lives means a lot to me.” Betty then started with a local TV show , “The Scene” produced by Kovaz and Robin L. where Betty’s videos were in heavy rotation. This collaboration added to Betty’s name in the DC music scene. Soon, Betty was asked to host the TV show “The Metro Video Film Festival” highlighting the best of local music and videos. Betty is now focusing on her solo music career.
