Biography

Blue Cone Highway is a father/daughter band based in Dallas Texas, composed of Lynn and Ali Lister. "Deathless Wasteland" is our ballad about loss and survival amid a zombie apocalypse. Blue Cone Highway is a father/daughter band based in Dallas Texas, composed of Lynn and Ali Lister. "Deathless Wasteland" is our ballad about loss and survival amid a zombie apocalypse. We're experimenting with two different versions. The original started with the droning beat of a telecaster electric guitar, Lynn's old Ovation acoustic, and a heart-beat bass. The version on Ourstage starts with a bluesy lead guitar intro to get things started quicker. Deathless was written by Lynn, who played guitars and synthesizers, and sung by Ali, who also played the cool organ parts. Lynn said, "I've been thinking about a serious zombie song for several years. I wanted to tell the story of a family fighting just to survive. It finally started coming together last Christmas. One night after everyone was asleep, I was playing my electric guitar (unplugged), with my eyes shut, trying to imagine how the heroine in the song would escape, trying out different phrases. I was pretty much into it, when, suddenly, I felt I wasn't alone. My eyes snapped open, and my wife was right there, looking at me very strangely! I guess I was a little louder than I thought, but that scared the hell out of me. Very appropriate for this song." Deathless Wasteland was inspired by the novel, "World War Z" by Max Brooks. It has been playing on Jango internet radio since March, where we have over 1,600 fans.
