Boy & GurL are a passionpop duo, formed by Calgarian singer/songwriters Boy, Jarred Nicklen and GurL, Crystal McGrath. Previous to this endeavor Jarred and Crystal have both separately released solo albums of their own, promoting their individual work through live performance, touring, radio and television. They both have a passion and have been recognized for using their music as an inspirational tool for charities and non profit organizations, which initially brought them together to organize a benefit concert in 2008.
Jarred Nicklen has been singing, playing piano and guitar his whole life writing hundreds of tunes throughout his career. In June 2008, he released his debut album "Chemical Rising" followed by the release of the single titled "I will fight your fight" in July 2008 with all proceeds going towards the Calgary Scope Society. While doing shows and promoting his records he met a Gurl named Crystal McGrath that he developed a quick musical bond with.
Crystal McGrath just like Jarred Nicklen, is no stranger to the world of Music and Charity work, In 2006 she was the spokesperson for the foundation Toys for Tots in Atlanta GA where her song "Christmas Everyday" was used as an inspirational tool, and continuously is active with using her music and time to help raise awareness for various organizations. She released her debut album "I" in 2007, and has traveled Europe, Australia, and America to promote her music but continues to call Canada home.
In February 2009 they hit the studio to record their first EP as Boy & GurL featuring 6 of their collaborative original tracks. The blend of their rich harmonic vocals paired with piano driven melodies provides listeners with a sense of passion, pop and situations to reflect upon. The EP is a preview of the many successes yet to come from the rising duo. July 2009 they took on Western Canada touring their new project with a special appearance at the Vancouver Pride Parade playing for over half a million people. Currently Boy & GurL are working with Producer Russell Broom (Jann Arden, Emm Gryner)on their newest collection of songs to be released 2010, followed by a Canadian tour. With TV and Radio appearances underway, in such a short time Boy & GurL have risen to a recognizable status hitting the Canadian Music Scene.
