Brad Murphey is a traditional folk singer with a heart for today’s issues. His instrumental abilities range from guitar to keyboards, but it’s his vocal harmonies that keep people coming back for more.
Classically trained in voice, composition and orchestration, his songs have been speaking to people for over twenty years. Brad started as a rock musician (in his words, “doesn’t every kid?”) but quickly found his calling in folk and acoustic music. He’s been there ever since. He feels that no composer should be locked into any one genre and, consequently, his songs range in style from traditional folk to blues to county and rock. They can be light and humorous to serious or heart-rending.
Brad has toured coffeehouses and played large venues and festivals. He has appeared on stage with William Warfield, the great operatic baritone, and has inspired members of the younger generation to find their own musical voice. For himself, Brad finds inspiration in the music of Steve Stills, Stan Rogers, Peter Yarrow, as well as Leo Kottke and Charles Mingus and many others.
