BRIANA ALEXIS Southern California female guitarist, Briana Alexis began her guitar playing career in the late 80’s honing her chops playing clubs from the Sunset Strip to San Diego. A graduate of the Grove School of Music (She was also featured in the school’s ads in Guitar Player Magazine) and studied with legendary late jazz great Ted Greene. Briana formed her band Absinthe in 2007 and things took off rapidly from there. It’s not surprising that the press have taken notice of Briana and Absinthe. She was the Featured Guitarist of the Month for IndieGuitarist.com in March 2009 and the girls have been featured in Guitar Player Magazine, Metaladies Magazine, Femme Metal Magazine, Metal Maidens Magazine, Music Connection Magazine, Guitar Goddess Magazine (The band also performed at the magazine’s premier party at the Gibson Guitars show room), All Access Magazine, and GuitarSpy.com. In September 2010 Absinthe were featured in Airplay Direct Magazine as the “Featured Artists” for the highest ratings alongside Robert Plant’s latest release. The band has a loyal following and regularly plays festivals and high profile shows with national acts. The band also knows the importance of giving back and plays several fundraisers and events for charity each year. They have shared stages with Billy Idol, ZZ Top, Cheap Trick, Dilana (Rockstar Supernova), Meredith Brooks and have played to thousand of fans at the Long Beach Grand Prix and LA Marathon. To top it off, the band won three Rock City Awards (Best All Girl Band, Best Female Fronted Band, and Best Female Guitar Player). Alexis performed with Absinthe at 2009 Winter NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants) She has also performed on the main stage at the 2009 Nascar Double header kick off Race at Auto Club Speedway to over 20,000 fans in attendance. In May of 2010 Absinthe released their EP La Fée Verte to raving reviews, ending the year with a bang being first runners up for an Adidas national TV Ad campaign. Kicking off 2011, Absinthe performed live on The Playboy Morning Show, Sirius Satellite Radio Show (XM99). The band also debuted their latest video entitled “Filthy,” music by Briana Alexis, lyrics by singer songwriter, Cherokee Fortune. Absinthe will also be featured in a product video on the Carvin channel. It’s definitely not just a boy’s game anymore, Briana Alexis is living proof that girls can rock too…….
