Call It Dope! was founded in late 2008 and in the short time since, CID! has endured many changes to become the electrifying group they are today. Principle founding member, Dizzi Domo (birth name: Demarcus Woodard), an avid music lover and lyricist, decided during the summer of 2008 that he wanted to start a group. However, this could not be just any group. Wary of the decline in quality in current Hip-Hop music, Dizzi wanted to form a group that would revolutionize not just Hip-Hop but all music, as well. He envisioned hard beats with a party element, “dope rhymes,” and a live show like Rap had never seen before. Also, he dreamed of making music that would seamlessly cross many genres and appeal to many audiences without losing content or value. For this task, he enlisted the help of musician, producer, and long time friend, Joshua Paul Rodgers, III (birth name: Khrys Hatch). JPR3 was already the lead vocalist and guitar player for another successful Hip-Hop band. Because of this, Dizzi knew that JPR3 would possess the skills to help him in his quest. The two began discussing the future of their group. They decided to be a duo much like the Cool Kids but with JPR3 playing a few instruments during the live show. The duo, then, set their sights on their high school Battle of the Bands, a perfect way to debut their new act, which they called Dizzi+Josh (Dizzi and Josh). From there, they began looking for musicians. One day at rehearsal, a friend of the duo stopped by to watch rehearsal. During rehearsal that friend, Jeremy Williams became so excited by what he heard that he began dancing and singing to the songs. After seeing this, Dizzi wanted to add him as third member. However, JPR3 was wary about a rap trio, something not seen very often. They agreed to add him onto the band as a hype-man. Bound by determination, Jeremy began writing rhymes everyday trying to become a rapper and gain a spot in Dizzi+Josh. When time came for the battle, the group electrified the stage and quickly won over the crowd with their high energy and popular cover songs. They left there that night, undoubtedly, the crowd favorite. After that show, the duo did nothing for a long time. Both were transitioning into college, and JPR3 focused much of his time and energy into making it big with his other project. One day, Jeremy began asking JPR3 about letting him record some songs of his own. For a while, JPR3 put it off but one day in November of 2009 he gave in and helped the budding lyricist record over some popular instrumentals. When the session was done JPR3 was blown away. Jeremy who had came up with the stage name, King Rashad, took each instrumental and wrote over the whole track, sometimes ending up with verses containing over 100+ bars. His rhymes were clever and witty and held serious subject matters without being boring or preachy. After this, JPR3 met with Dizzi and they decided to revamp the whole group and add in King Rashad. Dizzi Domo changed his name to Scotty Wilde and the trio became Call It Dope! Since their official creation in January of 2010, Call It Dope! has worked tirelessly to create fresh new music with a new sound. They are currently working with their management to book shows for summer 2010 as they continue to build their repertoire.
