Clara George is a San Francisco Bay Area musician with considerable expertise in a wide range of genres. She is classically-trained oboist, pianist, and vocalist who holds degrees from the Interlochen Arts Academy and the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, and she has additional postgraduate education in performance and pedagogy from Arizona State University. As an orchestral musician, Clara has played with leading soloists and conductors including Itzhak Perlman, John Williams, and Larry Rachleff.
In addition to her classical performances, Clara is a versatile guitarist, pianist, and singer-songwriter. Her first band, Surrender Dorothy, was an opening act on the 1999 Lilith Fair tour, and Clara shared the stage with featured acts including Sarah McLachlan and Sheryl Crow.
Clara is available as a session musician (vocals, guitar, and/or piano) for various audio projects including commercial recordings, art projects, demos, and audition tapes. She can provide both lead and backing material, and her years of training allow her to perform in most genres/styles you require. Clara will also license her own original audio files for use in media, advertising, or artistic projects.
If you are looking for live music, Clara can perform for private parties, benefit concerts, children’s parties, weddings, festivals, or any other event you may have planned. She can play as a solo act or as part of a group of any size, and she can provide a PA system for your event if needed.
Clara also offers private music lessons. She teaches lessons in piano, guitar, oboe, voice, electric bass, drums, music theory, and songwriting to children and adults. Although she is not currently accepting new students, we encourage you to contact her for referrals and/or waitlist information.
