Cobalt Sky is: Nick DePalo - Vocals/Guitar Ricky Abolt - Guitar/Vocals Nick Colella - Bass Paul Pipitone - Drums When the idea for Cobalt Sky was formed by three friends late one night in the back of a cafe, none of them knew what to expect. But almost a year later what started three friends dreams of making a local Pop-Punk band has turned into something much more. After a demo was recorded of their first written song entitled "London", Cobalt Sky immediately added a fourth member and began to write and record their debut EP. Influenced by bands such as A Day To Remember, Mayday Parade, Four Year Strong and Taking Back Sunday, Cobalt Sky has bridged Pop themes with Hardcore elements to create a sound unlike the mainstream standard of rock today. Quickly finding their identity as a Pop-Core group with a unique sound Cobalt Sky released their debut EP known fondly as the "London EP" in the Spring of 2009. Since November of 2008 Cobalt Sky has played over 20 showcases including JCC's Rockfest 2009 and Hot Topic's "Local Static" in-store performance. Also Cobalt Sky boasts their invitation to the Excess dB Entertainment's Battle of the Band's at the School of Rock in Hackensack, NJ. Where the winning bands will go on to play with the likes of Boys Like Girls, Nevershoutnever!, and Gym Class Heroes at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, NJ. Cobalt Sky has shared the stage with many great bands such as Like the Stars, Another Option (All About Records), and He Among Us. After months of performing Cobalt Sky went headfirst back into the recording process has recently released it's new single entitled "Every Time I Try To Fight It, I Feel Like I'm On An Escalator." which is available for download and on their EP Re-release. In the past few months the band has also recorded a video interview for Inseparable Productions and has been selected as one of Sound Magazine's emergent artists of 2009. "Cobalt Sky is about progression and optimism." says vocalist and lyricist Nick DePalo. "Every moment of every day builds on the next and that's the exciting part, that every time you look in the mirror things are always getting bigger and better". And as Cobalt Sky continues to do just that, they look forward to their future as a band and whatever opportunities will come next.
