CONFLICT From the Westside of Montgomery AL, out of Gibbs Village, reigns one of Alabama’s newest up and coming stars. Tavaress Johnson grew up in a single parent household raised by his mom in the second part of Gibbs Village on Terminal Road. In 1995, his mom moved to the Gibbs Village projects, which lead Tavaress to learning how to survive on the streets living the Hard Knock life as a teenager. By the age of 15, he began to engage in gambling, drugs, theft, and robbery. With an interest in rapping, Tavaress collaborated with his longtime friend, Renzo, and adopted his first rap name “Bookie”. They named themselves TVB “The Village Boys”. In the year 2000, the group would produce their first recording. Two years later, Tavaress and his mother moved to the Southside settling in Cloverland Apartments. There he begin to take rapping serious and starting doing what it took to become a good rapper. He then made a name for himself and became known as the artist “CONFLICT”. In 2003 he had a run in with the law which resulted in going back and forth to court between 2003-2005. He was sentenced to 3 years at Draper prison in Elmore County, Alabama. He was known as “The Man” putting on concerts and rapping to fellow inmates. He was released in 2008 and started rapping with a local label. His strongest influences would consist of artists known as Young Jeezy, Yo Gotti, Rick Ross, TI, Lil Wayne, Master P, Lil Boosie, and Soulja Slim. While making noise on the local scene, Powerball Management helped him gain exposure around the city of Montgomery. While recording with producer Skinney Boi, he heard a beat he liked, and started working with local artist CLB of Deuce Komradz whom was featured on the track “I Got It”. On July 4th 2008, Conflict started promoting and performing at the club called “Fusion”. Club Fusion was known as the “Underground Hip Hop Club” and he did his very first show after being released from Draper. In the summer of 2009, he met DJ Frank White and did a mixtape called “The Summer Aint Over”. Shortly after that he started working on his second single called “The Man”. While performing at Club Fusion during a Hurricane Chris party he was discovered by Tour Manager/Music Executive “Hotel” which would be the beginning of “CONFLICTS” music career. Then he dropped the classic mixtape called “The Color Purple” hosted by DJ Tre of Get Crunk Squad DJs. While working with “Hotel”, CONFLICT was introduced to CTE’s DJ Bigga Rankin, DJ Toomp, Drumma Boy, Traxster, Nitti, Kenny Flav, Mahogany, Gorilla Zoe, Shawty Lo, Boo Rossini, Hurricane Chris, Rico Brooks of Block Entertainment, and Hiriam Hicks.
