Sean Perkins, aka: De-Sean B. LeRoy, fell in love with the art of creating music at the ripe age of six. The year of 1993 marks the introduction of the drums into De-Sean’s world. By the age of twelve, he embarked on his own musical enterprise opening for the reputed ‘Fifth Beatle’, Pete Best, who was later replaced by Ringo Starr. The selection of alternative music at this time made growing up in the 90’s unimpressive for DBL. Yet he did his best to be inspired by the likes of artists such as 311 and Incubus. He ventured on to experiment with various bands, the most prolific being Doctor Topic in 2004, rightfully named after his family’s Obstetrician at Auburn Faith Hospital. Doctor Topic provided De-Sean an outlet to unleash the music that had been written in his soul since the good Doctor brought him into this world. Playing with a Classic Rock / Funk style highly inspired by the early works of the Red Hot Chili Peppers (’84-’89) and David Bowie (’66-’74), Sean considers it some of his best work to date.
Presently, Sean writes as an independent drawing out his alter-ego De-Sean B. LeRoy. With a fresh take on his craft, he produces a blend of Funk, Afro-Beat, Hip-Hop and Alternative Rock style music to create an outcome all his own. He writes with the influence and inspiration of the ingeniously cultured Damon Albarn. Fluent in drums, bass, keyboards, and guitar, DBL is currently defining the genre he has entitled, “Eerie Funk.” De-Sean is ready to convince the world that Eerie Funk is a force to be reckoned with!
