D.O.E. C.I.G.A.P.O.M. was born on September 10, 1982 in Northwest, Washington D.C. He grew up in a musically inclined family where his father (R.I.P.) sang and played percussion, and his mother invested time singing in the church choir. D.O.E. started following in their footsteps at the young age of 11. He joined a go-go band, which helped him start developing his flow. He started playing percussion instruments such as drums, congas, and timbales. As the years passed, even after leaving the band, he still had the same drive for music as he did when he was a child. D.O.E. fell in love with hip hop because of the word play and the use of poetry which it encompassed. He studied MC’s like Biggie Smalls, Jay-Z, Kool-G Rap, 2 Pac, and the list goes on. D.O.E.'s love for hip hop is strong; he invests the majority of his time performing at open mics and recording in the studio. Because he began performing at such a young age, he has the ability to put on an amazing and unique show every time he hits the stage. All of these attributes are what make D.O.E.
