The band concept was first put together at the beginning of 2009 by Elena Vasile and David Ciente. The making of the band actually meant renaming and redirecting the band in the music industry. The portfolio now has up to 13 songs, all in English, registering quite some success on European music sites (such as www.sellaband.com, www.thesixtyone.com). At the end of 2009, Electric Fence came up with the first song to define the band’s actual style, called “I’m the biggest star”. The song was rejected in the 2010 Eurovision pre-selection, but, by mere fortune, Bogdan Şerban, one of the DJs working at Radio Guerrilla, listened to it and made a proposal to the radio station’s music board. They all agreed that it should go on air (something that happens rarely inside Radio Guerrilla) and so it got into the station’s playlist and even on the 2nd place in TopShow 40. In May 2010, the band got 3 new members: Vlad Todor – bass, Ovidiu Condrea – drums and Ştefan Constantinescu – guitar, and so, Electric Fence had their first gig on the Hand2Hand Art and Music Marathon Festival. They only played the 5 songs they had so far but, as time passed, 8 more were added to their repertoire, among which were “Stressless” and “Ready, steady, go” – also in Radio Guerrilla’s playlist, but both of them made it to the first position, the first one in 2010 and the other one in 2011. They’ve made up the Rock’n’Blog concept, which has already happened twice, in Tago Mago Club and in Lăptăria lui Enache, both in Bucharest. This concept gives the band and the bloggers the chance of promoting themselves, as the first two bloggers have showed: Toma Nicolau and the most read and followed onliner, Cristian China Birta (Chinezu’ – The Chinese). The band has performed in important clubs in Bucharest and in the GuerriLive show hosted by Bogdan Şerban on Radio Guerrilla. The members are looking forward to overstepping the city’s and the country’s boundaries as soon as possible, as the band’s potential is the best thing they have in common with anyone who listens to them. In February 2011, the band members have decided to replace Ştefan Constantinescu with Alexandru Mîşu, a 20 years-old guitarist with a promising future. Approximately in the same period, Ovidiu Condrea decided to leave the group, dedicating his time to another project. Until finding and keeping a drummer, Electric Fence plays along with Florin Vasile from the band Marcă Înregistrată and with Radu Moldovan from the Partizan band. That’s why they say: “Drummers change a lot, but the drums are always the same.”
