Elijah has been playing music since he was five years old beginning on the piano. His earliest memories are of being carted around the classrooms of elementary school to play the entertainer by Scott Joplin. At 12 a quirky adult neighbor in a rock band showed him the blues scale and Elijah found his passion in rock music and songwriting. When he was 16 he got his first 4 track recorder and has carried a recording studio with him for over 30 years logging in tens of thousands of hours of recorded music. His first commercial CD Touch Wood was recorded in 1989. It was at a time when there were no independent artists putting out their own music. Going to the pressing plant and asking them to manufacture his CD and putting it out on his own label at the time “Punch City Records”. As a result Touchwood became a top ten CD on the Canadian College Charts. Elijah has released 13 CDs from pop rock singer songerwriter material to his hybrid Sufi music CDs. Surprising to most people is that most of his CDs including were recorded, written and played entirely by Elijah. The entire CD “Embrasive” was recorded and played exclusively by him (bass, drums, guitar, piano and voice) and the large orchestral voices on many of his CDs particularly the ZIkr of Firdous were done mult tracking himself.
