Familia was conceived in 2004 in Maple Ridge, B.C. after meeting in their high-school Jazz ensemble. In 2006, they recorded a 3 song demo at Brian Adam’s Warehouse Studio. This resulted in airplay on 99.3 The Fox. They began playing around Vancouver and surrounding areas receiving tremendous praise for their live performance. Familia was conceived in 2004 in Maple Ridge, B.C. after meeting in their high-school Jazz ensemble. In 2006, they recorded a 3 song demo at Brian Adam’s Warehouse Studio. This resulted in airplay on 99.3 The Fox. They began playing around Vancouver and surrounding areas receiving tremendous praise for their live performance. Their deeply passionate and high energy shows have gained them a steady growing fan base. The band traveled to Thailand in 2007 and volunteered by teaching music in HIV/AIDS orphanages. In 2008 Familia partnered with producer Jonathan Anderson at Buena Vista Audio to record their full-length, debut album: “Golden Lies” released in June 2009. The album draws from a wide range of musical styles and explores life's many questions. With well written melodic choruses and solid rhythms it's a group of songs that inspires the listener on more than one level. Soon after the albums release Familia was chosen as one of BC's top 20 bands by Vancouver based radio station 100.5 the Peak in the Peak Performance Project which was awarded CMW (Canadian Music Week) 2009 Radio Promotion of the Year. The opportunity gave the band amazing exposure and the tools needed to succeed in the ever changing independent music business. They plan to kick off a cross Canada summer tour this July.
