We're not a Crowes tribute band, but we do have them to thank directly for bringing the senior members of this band, Tree and Action, together. One fateful, and rockin summer evening at Red Rocks Amphitheater on August 12, 2006. The stellar, punchy tunes of Drive-By Truckers opened for the slide prowess of Robert Randolph, followed by the legendary live-performers, the Black Crowes. I give sole credit to the Crowes, because I believe that's at the point in the concert that "Action" and I looked at one another, virtual strangers, until the introduction to one another by my brother just three hours earlier, and hollered, "Let's start a band."
A week later, we headed to Wal-Mart and bought a First Act microphone and amplifier. The rest is history.*
*The name, and subsequent band, in its current manifestation are the result of finally getting real instruments, real equipment, going through a handful of drummers and guitarists, and three years later meeting two 25-year, seasoned musicians, Dandy and Jukebox. We started meeting more regular-like, and found ourselves less interested in getting drunk, and more interested in playing music. Though, we did still eventually get drunk, it just happened later, rather than earlier so the music would actually sound good. Finally, after the cross-country relocation of our 5th member, South Carolina rhythm guitarist (and band name founder), Miles N Miles, we landed an old rockin' blues, SRV-inspired soul, hiding in a young college-edu-ma-cated body, Kid Williams. Now we wipe out audiences and throw a helluva party.
