Most people go there whole lives wondering why they were put on this earth and not knowing what they were called to do. Some of those people live in a dream world, and there are some who face reality; and then there are those that turn one into the other. At the young age of 20, Gray would definitely be classified with the latter due to his impeccable work ethic and hunger to succeed in this life. Gray (real name Gray Hemphill, IV) was born July 27th in Nashville, TN.  He developed a love for music at an early age due to his parent’s extensive record collection and began composing lyrics as early as 7 years old. By releasing material here and there for many years and earning a name for himself in the Nashville market, Gray released his first solo project in July of 2011 titled” Shade of Gray”. The project introduced people to the depth of talent that Gray possessed and spawned numerous local magazine articles and internet blog posts. The Nashville Scene embraced Gray, stating that he was an artist well ahead of the curve and voted his video for ‘Doin’ My Thing’ the best video of 2011. This in turn led to Gray performing at nearly every venue in Nashville and garnishing love from all people of all walks of life. It is very rare that an upcoming artist can fit the opening ticket for an artist like Raekwon and then 2Chainz and be able to please both crowds exceptionally well. But due to his variety of sound, charismatic nature and depth of talent, Gray seems to transition between different worlds flawlessly.  Although his career is young, not only has he captured the hearts and minds of Nashville natives, he has also caught the attention of industry heavy-hitters and plans on embarking in an illustrious career in the near future.
