Biography

The Grace Brothers is a gospel quartet composed of four busy professionals who love to sing together as their schedules allow. Bass Doug Bourquein was a Member of the Milwaukie High School Pony Pipers and won honors in the Bass division at the Oregon State high school solo contest in 1981 and 1982. He's enjoyed singing in church choirs and participating in special musical productions around town during the last twenty years. The Grace Brothers is a gospel quartet composed of four busy professionals who love to sing together as their schedules allow. Bass Doug Bourquein was a Member of the Milwaukie High School Pony Pipers and won honors in the Bass division at the Oregon State high school solo contest in 1981 and 1982. He's enjoyed singing in church choirs and participating in special musical productions around town during the last twenty years. He is currently a fifth grade teacher at Sunnyside Elementary School in Clackamas, and has a home in Milwaukie with his wife Missy and their two sons, Jake and Derek. Todd Tschida, tenor, has spent most of the last five years performing in various musicals and plays throughout the Portland area. He studied music and theater at Treasure Valley Community College and Eastern Oregon University where he performed in various chamber choirs and vocal jazz groups. Tenor Dave Newton sang with Cleveland High School's Clevelandaires, then went on to earn is music degree at Lewis and Clark College. Dave sang for ten years as a member of the Norman Leyden singers with the Oregon and Seattle Symphony Pops series. He was the keyboard player and manager for the Portland band "PDX" for 24 years. He still plays "piano bar" style engagements and is the manager and arranger for the Moreland Presbyterian Praise Band. By day, Dave manages investment properties. He lives in Eastmoreland with his wife Teresa. Jon Newton, baritone, teaches music at Portland State University. Previously he has toured as a bluegrass fiddler, operated a Portland recording studio, conducted musical theater projects, and arranged rock and country music revues. Jon lives in Beaverton with wife Meghan and three loudly-musical children. The Grace Brothers are accompanied by pianist Bruce Gillespie.
