Guess Again a band based out of New England and is soon to produce their anticipated “Verisimilitude” album. The album is the bands first and represents a new fresh artistic presentation on many different styles to create a unique yet perceptive sound. The band was formed about ten months ago sharing their new material in coffee houses and small venues to fans of all ages. The approach was to test and refine the product before going into the studio. The feedback they have received about the music has been very positive and many are looking forward to the album release. Guess Again came about when Pete Smith and Colette O’ Connor recently started teaching together and created a culmination of genre, style and personal influences shared by the two main songwriters. They never thought their diverse styles could blend but “guess again!” Pete and Colette both come from Massachusetts, their music is an intersection of roots, the storytelling emotion of tradition blending with a wealth of jazz influences that balance like the ever-changing New England seasons. Together in Guess Again their music creates a unique flash of chemistry that simmers with jazz, bubbles with pop and satisfies with folk. This is music with depth of current that carries a story and a surprise in every telling. Peter Smith been playing instruments since the age of eight inspired by wanting be like his uncle who played guitar and grandfather who used to yodel and play harmonica at several local minstrel shows & functions. Shortly after high school Pete marched out to join the rock-fusion band Fragile Peace, which was featured in Boston Anthology #9. Over the next several years he evolved into a local GB singer and performer. Pete also designed and manufactured his own 3Dimensional-electric guitars, then opened his own successful music school, 3D Guitars & Music in Pembroke Ma., which is ongoing and giving life to a whole new generation of musicians. His guitar playing reflects the influences of many jazz, rock and fusion players but his real secret weapon is the saxophone. Peter loves the “technical power of jazz that produces a new dimension of emotion.” Colette O’Connor feels that “there is art in the creation of a pure musical experience that can open a flow of true emotion.” She has been honing that skill through guitar as a solo singer/songwriter of folk music since she won a school talent show, at age ten. That accomplishment set the stage for coffee houses, songwriting workshops, teaching, and several award-winning original musicals: “The Museum of Radio & Television” © 1999; “Wolf Tales” © 2000 and a non-profit production of “Nunsence 2.5: While the Rev’s Away the Nuns Will Play” © 2002 that, serendipitously, entertained several communities of elderly and infirmed nuns. Currently Guess Again is writing more original material and awaiting live performances to promote their first CD titled “Verisimilitude.” Their music is available for online listening at; www.myspace.com/2guessagain and a website: www.2guessagain.com is being developed. Upcoming show date: C-Note, June 8 2009, 8:00pm, Nantasket Beach, Hull Ma.
