J.R (Dwight Dewayne Selma Jr.) found his passion for music at the age of 3 as he would use kitchen utensils drumming on pots and pans creating his very own rythm at such a tender age. As a cousin of the legendary rapper Ice Cube, it is no surprise that J.R would develop a talent in rapping. He pursued his passion for music all throughout his middle and high school years while playing percussion instruments as well as the flute for numerous bands and organizations. J.R wasnt always known as "J.R" throughout his years in school. He was bullied and harrassed by others on a daily basis, adding to the stress caused from the passing of his grandfather at the age of 15 and the divorce amongst his parents at the age of 15 as well. J.R soon looked to poetry and writing song lyrics as a form of relief. With no access to a studio, he would have to wait to put his talents on display. He first stepped foot on a stage performing at a 2009 high school talent show held in the auditorium at LACES magnet. Ever since then J.R had no doubt that rapping is the career he wanted to pursue. As a newcomer in the game this young 17 year old artist out of Gardena, California looks to lay his mark on hip hop music in the near future with his chill persona, clean rap and creative punchlines. J.R is now on the rise with his team of young ambitious individuals who have no other plan but to make it.
