According to her parents, Heather Leigh started singing in the crib before she could talk! Music has been an integral part of her life ever since. She has performed with such prestigious choirs as the Ruth Eckerd Hall Choir and the Walt Disney World Candlelight Procession at EPCOT Center. Heather Leigh began writing her own music in her teens. "I believe music can reach across cultures, language, age and time, reach past hurts and fear, and grab someone in the depths of their soul. I believe it can change and transform, comfort and sooth, evoke passion or pain. I write about life, about learning, about living." Heather Leigh just released her original debut CD, Learn & Live, a compilation of Christian, country/blues, and love ballads. "It's a smorgasbord of themes and styles, because that's how life is!" Heather briefly played the violin, but found her true love at the piano where she could create her own music. She began composing in her teens and has steadily developed her songwriting skills ever since. Heather experienced one of the biggest trials, and biggest victories, of her life in 2008. She fell down a staircase and landed neck-first onto the handrail, paralyzing her right vocal cord. Tests were run, and doctors said she may never sing again. She was ordered to strict vocal rest for 6 months. "It seemed like the longest 6 months of my life. Suddenly, the voice that I had depended on was gone. The very essence of who I thought I was, was gone. I had always been a singer. I knew that God had given me gifts, had inspired songs. But there I was, unable to use it, and wondering if I ever would again. But God used that time to teach me valuable, amazing lessons about who I really was....my voice did not define who I was, He did." After vocal rest, a little learning, and a lot of prayer, Heather's vocal cord began to work again. She decided never to take singing for granted again, and went to work on Learn & Live, her debut CD.
